Unfortunately for me, no one else seemed to like it. I believe my dad went so far as to say it would be ugly (granted, he hadn't seen all the gorgeous red and blue inspiration boards I'd seen).
So after that initial disappointment, I set about trying to find a color scheme that everyone could get behind. However, I didn't really want it to be a very common color scheme - you know, pink and green, tiffany blue and brown, etc. Not that they're not great color schemes.. I just figured that with a art studio
Purple and grey!
Of course, now grey is become a much more common color, but I was still excited when I saw that Bee Kim (of WeddingBee fame) mentioned that purple and grey were one of the new hot color schemes for the coming year in a magazine interview she did (because I'd picked it even before I'd heard that!)
And because I love snippet&ink inspiration boards, here's a few in our colors..

Once we had gotten the colors picked, I felt like I could really start looking around at invitations, dresses, etc. Up until that point, I'd be kind of wandering in the dark, but I think it was great to pick the color scheme first. After that, everything else either fits in it or it doesn't, so it's a lot easier to make decisions!
